It is an ancient volcanic, quarried stone that is porous and is hand-carved architectural stone. It is available in a multitude of stone colors.
Cantera is formed by volcanic ash and dust. It has a Mexican origin and has more color variations and textures. Travertine and Limestone are sedimentary stones. Limestone is more consistent in color and Travertine is traditionally more expensive.
Sealer application is recommended for areas where the porous tile needs to be protected from staining or absorption of debris. Any of the Rustico sealers can be used on Cantera stone.
YES! It has been preferred throughout the years as a prime building material. Many ancient buildings and monuments all over the world were made using Cantera stone.
It is packaged in a 48x48x48 inch palleted crate and shipped on a freight truck.
A residential delivery includes a liftgate for unloading the pallet(s). Delivery is made by a national freight carrier and insurance is included. The full-sized freight truck (an 18-wheeler in most cases) will need to have access in and out of the desired delivery location. Inside delivery is not available. Delivery can only be made on a flat, paved surface. If there are delivery concerns, please contact us prior to the shipping date. Anticipated delivery issues are much easier and less costly to fix prior to material departing our warehouse. Any changes made to shipping after the material has left our warehouse will incur additional fees. Freight companies are requested to call ahead to set an appointment for a residential delivery. Deliveries are made Monday-Friday.
A commercial delivery is considered to be delivered to any business location that has a loading dock or a forklift. If no loading dock or forklift is available, a liftgate can be ordered for unloading and will incur an additional fee. Freight companies will delivery Monday-Friday during normal operating hours without any call-ahead notice. Farm/Ranch/Hotel/Resort locations may incur additional fees.
It can be power washed or cleaned with a stone sealer, such as our Stone Clean 104. For trouble areas or stains, please contact us directly.
A typical lead time for tiles and columns is about 2-4 weeks. All other products, such as fireplaces, range hoods, and fountains, are custom produced and generally have an approximate 6-8 week lead time. Rush orders may be available upon request.
